Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week (11–17 May), and the theme for 2026 is ‘Action’ — focusing not just on awareness, but on the practical steps organisations can take to support positive mental health every day.

At Prosper, supporting employee wellbeing is part of the company culture throughout the year, not just during awareness campaigns.

One of the ways Prosper encourages open conversations is through regular ‘walk and talk’ sessions led by our CEO Rod Brasington. Rather than formal meetings across a desk, these one-to-one catch-ups take place outdoors in a more relaxed environment, giving employees the opportunity to talk openly while benefiting from fresh air, movement and time away from the office.

The business also promotes the importance of staying active, connected and creating opportunities for colleagues to spend time together away from the workplace. Last week, Prosper employees took part in a charity walk in Northumberland, encouraging colleagues to enjoy the outdoors while supporting both physical and mental wellbeing.

Alongside day-to-day collaboration, Prosper regularly organises team breakfasts outside of the office and social wellbeing activities that help strengthen relationships and create a supportive team culture. The business also holds annual summer and Christmas team away days, giving employees dedicated time to connect, reflect and recharge together.

Prosper recognises that everyone experiences work and wellbeing differently and aims to create an inclusive environment where colleagues feel supported in ways that work best for them. The business promotes open conversations around individual needs and offers flexibility where possible to help employees maintain a healthy balance between work and personal wellbeing.

Prosper is committed to creating an open and supportive workplace where employees feel comfortable speaking to managers and accessing support when needed.

Rod Brasington is a qualified Mental Health First Aider and is available to support colleagues and signpost additional help where appropriate.

Alongside this everyday support, all employees have access to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme from day one of employment, offering advice and support on a range of issues including emotional wellbeing, financial concerns, legal matters and work-related challenges.

As part of this support, employees can also access confidential telephone counselling services with trained professionals.

By encouraging open conversations, creating supportive environments and promoting positive wellbeing activities, Prosper continues to take meaningful action to support mental health across the business.
